Privacy Policy

Your notes stay on your device. Wisp promises to collect as little as data as possible.

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Overview

Wisppad ("the app", "me", "I") is a note taking app for quick, temporary thoughts. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices. We've built Wisppad to keep your notes on your device and to collect as little as possible.

Your notes stay on your device

The notes you create, including text, checklists, voice recordings, code snippets, scanned text, and doodles are stored locally on your device. I do not upload, read, or have access to the content of your notes.

If you are signed in to iCloud, your notes and app data may be synced across your own devices using Apple's iCloud. This data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy and is not accessible to me.

Notes automatically fade and are deleted after a duration you choose. Deleted notes are removed from the app.

Settings sync

A small set of app settings (your auto delete duration, reminder preferences, and code theme) is synced through your private iCloud account so your preferences stay consistent across your devices. These settings contain no note content and no personal information.

Analytics

Wisppad uses PostHog to understand how the app is used so I can improve it. PostHog collects anonymous, aggregated usage events such as:

  • Which note types are created or activated (e.g. text, maths, voice), not the content.
  • App interactions such as opening the menu, changing settings, or navigating between notes.
  • Onboarding completion and feature usage.
  • Purchase-related events (e.g. paywall viewed, purchase completed).

These events never include the text or contents of your notes, your voice recordings, scanned images, or photos.

Analytics data is processed by PostHog on my behalf. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

Purchases and subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled through Apple's App Store and managed using RevenueCat, which processes purchase and subscription status on my behalf. I do not receive or store your payment card details, payment is handled entirely by Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Currency conversion

The maths/currency feature fetches up-to-date exchange rates from a third-party service (exchangerate-api.com). These requests retrieve general market rates only and do not send any of your notes, amounts, or personal information to that service. See ExchangeRate-API's terms.

Device permissions

Wisppad only requests permissions when you use the related feature:

  • Camera — to scan text into a note (OCR). Processing happens on your device.
  • Photo Library — to import an image for text scanning, if you choose to.
  • Microphone — to record voice notes, stored locally on your device.
  • Notifications — to remind you before a note is auto-deleted. These are local notifications scheduled on your device.

You can change or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

Data I do not collect

I do not sell your data. I do not collect your name, email, contacts, or precise location, and I do not use your notes for advertising or profiling.

Data retention

  • Notes — stored on your device and deleted automatically after your chosen duration, or when you remove them.
  • Analytics — retained by PostHog in aggregated form for as long as needed to improve the app.
  • Purchase records — retained by Apple and RevenueCat as required to manage your subscription.

Children's privacy

Wisppad is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Because your notes live on your device, you can delete them directly in the app or by removing the app. For analytics or other requests, contact me at ryanmottram.dev@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noting it within the app.
